Losing and maintaining weight with Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) herbal tea mixture

My secret weapon (Apple cider vinegar with the “mother”, honey, turmeric, cinnamon & lemon)

If there is anything that the lock down/quarantine or whatever you wanna call it has blessed us with is, weight gain and I have this sense that most people can testify to this. I gained almost 2 kg’s in two and half months and I know exactly how this happened. My everyday routine was shifted and I became reluctant to adjust it to fit the new changes. Anyway, let us cut to the chase.

Since last year I have been drinking ACV herbal tea infused with certain herbs and spices religiously each morning on an empty stomach. My normal weight was 77 kg’s before March 2019 and would fluctuate between 75 kg’s and 78 kg’s. After some research on the internet, I decided to start drinking ACV with lemon, turmeric, cinnamon and honey with the goal of assisting me in my weight loss and maintenance journey. Adding turmeric and cinnamon was an additional choice since these two also help with flushing out toxins from your body. So each morning before meals, I’d drink this tea. After about 4 months, that’s when I started to get feedback from my mates. People said I was losing weight, did I feel it? Not really. I felt normal and somewhat energetic. That’s when I realized that most of my jeans and pants were now too big. All this time I just thought perhaps time was getting the best of them through wear and tear.

Curiously, I hoped onto the scale to see if indeed, this were true. I weighed 69 kg’s. Can you believe this? I lost over 5 kg’s in four months!!!! That’s when it hit me, the ACV herbal tea was the only thing that I had been consistent with over these months. Guys, I wasn’t even exercising at all and neither did I change my diet, I’d eat whatever I wanted. This really encouraged me because I’ve always wanted to get in 60 kilo range in my adult life. Anyway, I started telling my friends and acquaintances about this drink. Some tried it but hated the taste of raw ACV so they stopped. Anyway, since I also gained a bit of weight over the lock down period, I made a choice of giving this drink another trial to examine if it truly contributed to my weight loss and maintenance previously.

On the 1st of June when our company resumed its operations, I embarked on this journey again. It came to my realization that it is easier to be consistent with this process when I go to work as opposed to when I am at home. This brings us to today, 01 July, marking a full month since commencement . I was 71 kg’s beginning of the month and I just came back from the pharmacy now where I usually get my weight readings, and guess what, I lost all that lock-down weight. I am back at 69 kg’s and boy am I stocked. The ACV hot beverage really works guys, well at least for me, it might be a different situation for you but it is worth trying. Without further ado, let’s get right into how I prepare this secret weapon as well as my feedback below,

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons ACV (apple cider vinegar) with the “mother” (this means raw, unfiltered and organic apple cider vinegar which equals to, more effective)

1/2 a lemon or lemon juice preferably fresh lemon juice

1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon turmeric

1 – 2 tablespoon honey

1/2 teaspoon ground ginger (optional)

Preparation:

Just add boiling water to your ingredients in a normal tea/coffee mug.

Review:

To be quite honest, I love the taste of this hot drink simply because I love sourly things and this for me does it. You may see yourself going to the loo for number two quite often. The drink detoxifies your body and gives you energy as well. Another important thing, I’ve never had flu since I started taking this, so who knows, this may assist in boosting your system during this COVID-19.

Tip: I usually mix the powdery stuff together, keep it in a jar then just add 1/2 teaspoon of the mix to my hot water.
