Guava Leaves Herbal Tea

Guava leaves with slices of lemon for taste.

One windy day my family decided to go visit this place in Kidd’s Beach, South Africa. This was just after our lock-down restrictions were lifted, talk about Covid-19 right? Thank goodness, you can imagine how insane most of us were starting to feel. The nation was on a two month lock-down in order to flatten the curve. If you are reading this in 3025, please go check your history, ha ha ha. As a creative, and more so, a nature fanatic, you can understand how confining this time must have been for me. Back to the story, I got excited and when we got to this farm, there were guava trees everywhere!!! Yes! left, right and center. It was actually my first time seeing these babies ever since I left Zimbabwe for the Eastern Cape. Anyway, bottom line is, we found the guavas and that made me very happy.

We harvested a few fruits (simply because we did not want a “guava situation”, if you know, you know) and took a lot of leaves with us to experiment with. My sister’s goal was to see if they were going to assist with her weight loss journey as for me, well, just to experiment and see what I could benefit from them. Back home, guava leaves are commonly known and used for treating a swollen tooth, tummy cramps and also aiding in making a woman fertile. After doing some research, I found out that guava leaves tea do possess quite a number of benefits and there are many articles out there. Review

I generally do not have anything against guava tea yet, if anything pops up, I will surely let you guys know. The taste is very herbal and has a subtle flavor to it. When you add lemon, it becomes quite refreshing.

Benefits

Lack of Appetite. Believe it or not, I took guava tea for almost two weeks in a row. The tea made me full as well as giving me this sensation of not being moved with food. I could eat only one meal per day and that on its own was satisfying. Sounds awesome doesn’t it 🙂

I will keep you posted on my sister’s weight loss journey with guava tea.

Preparation

6 x large guava leaves, fresh or dried.

1 x Litre water

Boil for not more that 10 mins

Serve hot, or cold.

I normally enjoy my herbal teas warm rather than hot, they are more flavorful that way.

Let me know in the comments section below if you have benefited from guava leaves tea.

Try nature, it’s much safer 😉
