Treated as a weed in most gardens, Mutsine as it is called in Zimbabwe, is a common plant that grows almost everywhere. However, regardless of its nature, this underestimated herb is quite powerful. One of its most common function is the treatment of blood pressure among other respiratory and digestive system treatments. Mutsine can be prepared either as a vegetable or tea.
Now that I have given you a brief overview of this herb, the question is, have I tried it? Of course!! I am here to give you information based on organic solutions that I have tried, or that my friends and family have tried. We use this herb almost everyday and we are doing just fine lol. Anyway, here is how I prepare my herbal tea;
Ingredients:
Mutsine leaves, dry or fresh. I normally use like one cup of fresh leaves or 1 x tablespoon dried of leaves.
3 cups of Water
Process:
Boil your leaves for not more than 5 minutes.
Serve either hot or cold
Review:
If perhaps you were wondering about the taste, do not worry. This herbal tea tastes just fine. It does not have a unique flavor and it almost tastes like boiled water.
One thing I can tell you though is that the tea opens up your bowels. You drink it, you go to the bathroom. I experience this almost every time. When it comes to how many times you should drink it, I suggest you consult with your doctor for I am a regular organic freak that will tell you, “every time is tea time” š¤£š¤£.
In my own opinion based on experience, I believe that herbal teas should be taken everyday. Make it a lifestyle and prevent yourself from catching the bad bugs. As an African, our ancestors always encouraged us to drink herbal teas everyday as a way of life just like they did, and you know what, they drank a lot of wild teas too. I will share these with you as well, you never know, that weed you always pulling out of garden is probably the answer to your problems.
P/S: When you over boil mutsine leaves they tend to have this funny taste which is off-putting, so watch out.
Be on the look- out for my next posts on herbal teas and also a recipe on preparing Mutsine vegetable.
Try nature, it’s much safer!!!
